The piece was made by hand using a dry needlefelting technique. The inspiration is from a childhood memory of the birth of baby ferns in the spring.
It measures 4" x 4" and is matted and framed to a size of 10" x 10" in a black wood frame.
Needlefelting is a technique where raw wool, also called roving, is manipulated with a series of sharp barbed needles to create the desired shape and textuture.
This item was handmade by artist Brooke Fuller in her North Carolina studio.
